Fashion Editorial Review
Practical Pattern Making: A Step-by-step Guide is a comprehensive guide for intermediate-level sewists who are interested in learning more about pattern making. While it has some basic information on measuring and drafting a straight skirt sloper and basic adjustments like a swayback, the book mostly focuses on complex, esoteric pieces that border on avant-garde. Some patterns are creative and unusual, showcasing experiments in turning simple geometric shapes into party dresses, but they might not be practical for everyday use. The book also showcases the German sleeve drafting technique for a better fit and offers many ways to achieve different designs, from pedestrian to eccentric.
