The Identiv SCR3500A USB SmartFold Type A is a transparent smart card reader that is part of a PC/SC solution. It supports ISO 7816 standard smart cards, including U.S government CAC and PIV credentials. The SCR3500A requires smart card middleware in addition to a smart card and the correct USB port matching the device. MacOS Sierra 10.12.14 users may experience difficulty seeing their cards in Keychain Access, but it can be resolved by clearing out personal certificates or deleting browser history. Regarding requirements for Chromebook or Dell 5500, users need to install middle-ware as well as the necessary certificates. The reader supports writing smart cards depending on the card, and it doesn't read a phone sim card. It works seamlessly with El Capitan 10.11.4 and Windows 10.
