What is the LS2 Helmets Stream II Pinlock Ready Outer Shield (Sunset Red Iridium)?

The LS2 Helmets Stream II Pinlock Ready Outer Shield is a premium accessory designed for enhanced visibility and protection for motorcycle riders. Its Sunset Red Iridium finish not only adds a sleek aesthetic but also helps in reducing glare while riding. The outer shield is engineered to accommodate a Pinlock insert, which significantly minimizes fogging, ensuring clear vision in varying weather conditions. This is particularly beneficial for riders who frequently battle humidity or sudden temperature changes.

How does the Pinlock feature work on the LS2 Stream II outer shield?

The Pinlock feature utilizes a dual-pane lens design that creates a barrier of air between the inner and outer shields, effectively reducing humidity and preventing fogging. The outer shield has specific pins where the Pinlock insert attaches, creating a tight seal. This innovative system is especially useful during colder rides, ensuring that the rider maintains a clear line of sight without the distractions of fogging.

Is the LS2 Stream II outer shield compatible with all LS2 helmets?

The LS2 Stream II Pinlock Ready Outer Shield is specifically designed to fit select models of LS2 helmets. Compatibility is mostly centered around models within the Stream II line. To ensure a perfect fit, it’s advisable to check the model compatibility list on the LS2 website or consult with your local dealer before making a purchase, particularly if you are upgrading or replacing an existing shield.

What are the benefits of using iridium coated shields like the Sunset Red?

Iridium coated shields, such as the Sunset Red variant of the LS2 outer shield, offer multiple benefits. They not only enhance visual appeal with their striking finish but also protect against UV rays and reduce glare from sunlight. This can significantly enhance riding comfort on bright days. Additionally, they can increase the durability of the shield, making it less susceptible to scratches compared to standard clear shields.

Can the LS2 Stream II outer shield be used at night?

While the Sunset Red Iridium finish is excellent for daytime riding due to its glare reduction properties, it is not ideal for night use. The tint can limit visibility in low-light conditions. It’s advisable to switch to a clear or lightly tinted shield when riding after dark to ensure optimal visibility and safely navigate through poorly lit environments.

How do I install the LS2 Pinlock insert onto the outer shield?

Installing the Pinlock insert onto the LS2 Stream II outer shield is straightforward. First, remove the outer shield from the helmet. Place the Pinlock insert onto the pins located on the inner side of the shield until it clicks securely in place. Ensure that it is sealed properly; this will help in achieving maximum anti-fogging benefits. Always refer to the installation manual for detailed instructions specific to your helmet model.

Is the LS2 outer shield easy to clean?

Yes, the LS2 Helmets Stream II outer shield is designed for practicality and ease of maintenance. You can gently wipe it with a soft microfiber cloth and a mild cleaner to maintain clarity. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch the surface or damage the iridium coating. Regular cleaning will help preserve visibility and the vibrant appearance of the Sunset Red finish.

What should I do if my outer shield gets scratched?

If your LS2 outer shield has developed scratches, there are several ways to address this. Light scratches can sometimes be polished out with specific plastic polish products. However, deeper scratches may necessitate replacement of the shield for optimal visibility and safety. Conduct regular inspections of your shield for damage, and if visibility is compromised, taking action sooner rather than later is recommended.

How does the Sunset Red color affect visibility while riding?

The Sunset Red color of the LS2 outer shield enhances visibility in bright conditions by filtering out visual distortions caused by glare. This allows riders to see clearer in sunlight compared to standard clear shields. However, it's key to switch to a clear shield during low-light situations, as tinted shields can reduce visibility in darker settings. Thus, using a colored shield during the day and clear at night could optimize your overall riding experience.
