T-Bone Walker (Artist) Format: Audio CD Delta Blues CDACF7503 Editorial Review
The "Ultimate Collection 1929-57" is an impressive tribute to the legacy of T-Bone Walker, showcasing his significant influence on the blues and rock genres. The compilation spans nearly three decades, encompassing 129 tracks, some of which are previously unreleased, making it a treasure trove for both seasoned fans and new listeners. Renowned musicians like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan have drawn inspiration from Walker's unique guitar style and smooth vocal delivery, which blends blues with jazz elements. Critics and Consumers alike have praised the collection for its comprehensive coverage of Walker’s career, including classic hits such as "Call It Stormy Monday" and "Bobby Sox Blues." The sound quality of the recordings is generally rated well, with minor audible surface noise noted on some tracks, and the accompanying 14-page booklet provides valuable insights, track lists, and historical context. However, the choice of packaging has received mixed reviews, with some customers expressing frustration with the traditional jewel case design, which they find bulky and prone to damage. Users have suggested modern packaging solutions that would better protect the discs while improving usability. Overall, the "Ultimate Collection 1929-57" is celebrated as a vital addition to any blues library, offering an extensive overview of one of the pioneers of the electric guitar. With its rich content and historical significance, it’s a recommended purchase for anyone looking to delve into Walker's music or enhance their existing collection. **
