The Zircon Stud Sensor Pro is a popular stud finder that customers deemed effective on textured surfaces, lath and plaster walls and ceiling joists. Commonly, the stud finder is powered by ordinary 9-volt batteries, making it practical and easy to replace. The unit self-calibrates upon powering up through the “trucal” green LED, and the deep-sensing option can locate studs that are 1 ½ inch deep. Though it has not been tested on hardwood floors, and one customer suggested using a more sensitive radar. In terms of customer reviews, a majority gave the stud finder a positive evaluation. Customers were happy with how the product made their projects easier, precise and mess-free. Nevertheless, there were complaints regarding the quality of the product. Some customers found the product flimsy and the battery cover hard to remove, which didn’t fit larger hands. A few customers received a different and cheaper version of the stud finder than the one advertised, and some items failed to work altogether.
