The outside unit is 7 L x 4.3/4 W x 5 H inches and is fixed with a screw to the desired position. The outdoor rain gauge is self-emptying, and the discharged water can freely escape away from the bottom. It provides a display of the amount of rainfall received in six different time periods, and the large numbers can easily be read. According to the reviews, this product is of mixed quality. A few customers found that the batteries didn't last long and the accuracy of the measurements was not as good as expected.
