The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is an excellent book for young adults and Greek mythology lovers. The central character of this book is Percy Jackson - a twelve-year-old boy who realizes that he is a demi-god haunted by mythological monsters. He then attends an institute, Camp Half-Blood, and trains to be a hero with his friends. The author combines mythological Gods and monsters from Greek myths into modern life and creates a believable fantasy reality through the travels of the protagonists. Despite the book's somewhat slow section and the heavy-handed clues about Percy's divine parent, the well-crafted characters and balanced pacing of the action scenes make it an enjoyable read.
