Angela Hewitt (Artist) Format: Audio CD Passacaglias HYP67309.2 Editorial Review
Bach J.S.: Arrangements is a remarkable collection by Angela Hewitt that showcases various transcriptions of Johann Sebastian Bach's works. This CD, featuring over 70 minutes of music, captures Bach's introspective spirituality and emotional depth through piano interpretations. Listeners have expressed admiration for how the close-mic recording technique enhances the clarity and density of the music, unveiling details often lost in more ambient productions. Moreover, Hewitt's thoughtful notes provide insights on translating spirituality into sound, which is vital for capturing the essence of Bach's compositions. Although some find the performances slightly timid, many appreciate their soothing and comforting qualities that invite repeated listening.
