This soil moisture sensor has been positively received and has several useful features. It can be buried in flood areas and accurately measures soil moisture content of essentially all soils when installed properly. It has an electrical resistance sensor that does not corrode with time and can be connected to an arduino with the Vinduino project. It can be used in place of a rain sensor to shut off the irrigation system, and can also tell when it's too dry. The sensor does not have any active components and requires the Irrometer Watermark WEM type module to connect with an irrigation controller. Overall, customers seem to be pleased with the quality and usefulness of the product for their irrigation needs.
