ASE’s Comprehensive Echocardiography is a comprehensive guide written by experts in the field. It contains detailed explanations of 3D echo and newer measurement methods such as myocardial work and LA/RV strain, expanded discussion of tricuspid regurgitation, and inclusion of AngioVac for vacuuming intracardiac junk. It also includes ultrasound physics chapters which are engagingly conveyed and lists who’s who in the echo world. However, the book has some weaknesses such as no coverage of COVID, minimal coverage of AI + echo, no discussion of recent attempts to address limitations of ASE diastolic guideline, and missing congenital heart disease sections. Additionally, the book is expensive.
