The SHOP FOX W1740 12-Inch Drum Sander is a solid and hefty machine that performs its job effectively. It runs quietly, is accurate and has good dust collection. The fine depth setting allows for incremental adjustments and the rollers and feed belt are perfectly set up for parallel thickness across the width of the workpiece. The adjustable feed rate ensures the selection of the correct belt speed. It comes with 1 roll of 120 grit sandpaper and uses hook and loop sandpaper. However, it may not perform as well in very cold weather and the circuit breaker may pop if trying to remove too much material per pass. The handle for height adjustment is tight and slow. It is also difficult to receive service and spare parts through Amazon. Overall, this sander is a great value for the price and an excellent addition to any small woodworking shop.
